"A lot of interest" in West Fargo Police Department's voluntary security camera registration program

(Fargo, ND) -- The West Fargo Police Chief is talking about the citizen response to the department's new security camera registration program. 

"We've had a lot of, a lot of interest in it. "We've had a number of residents sign up already so it's looking like it will be fairly successful," said Denis Otterness. 

Otterness says the completely voluntary program allows the department to know which homeowners and business owners have video cameras installed, and are also willing to share footage captured by the cameras with police,when detectives are investigating crimes. Otterness says it's entirely up to citizens and business owners on whether they share camera footage when it's requested.
