Former business owner announces candidacy for West Fargo City Commission

(West Fargo, ND) -- West Fargo resident DeAnn Reed has announced her candidacy for city commission.

Reed is a former small business owner with a degree in public relations and a minor in political science.

According to a news release, Reed ran a concrete coating company, and her experience also includes working in loan processing and producing newscasts at an ABC affiliate in Axtell, Nebraska.

She worked for the Omaha Chamber of Commerce and was a congressional aide to Representative Adrian Smith.

"Before I went back to school to get my degree and run a business, I spent a great deal of my life being a stay-at-home mom. I know what it's like for parents to want to send their kids to good schools, buy a home, and make ends meet. West Fargo is a great place to live. But I am concerned that the cost of owning a home is becoming increasingly out of reach for families," said Reed.

Reed said she plans to focus on keeping the city of West Fargo's size, scope, and growth in accordance with its ability to provide basic services.

"The City of West Fargo's financials’ need to be in good order, which should include a true audit before any new sales or property taxes are added to the taxpayers bill," explained Reed.
