(Fargo, ND) -- A longtime customer of the iconic Dairy Queen in Moorhead was the first customer to be served on opening day Wednesday morning at 10:00.

"I've done it a time or two because I've known these guys for 29 years. These are kind of like family, and I can't believe we're getting that old," said Moorhead area resident Steve Stremick, while laughing.

Stremick says he ordered his favorite, a hot fudge malt. Stremick was one of only two customers at the counter when WDAY stopped by the business shortly after it opened during blizzard conditions.

Owner Diane DeLeon was optimistic while commenting on the weather.

"I think this is a sign that this is going to be our best season ever, I really do, because you know like they say if it rains on your wedding day, it's good luck," said DeLeon.
