(West Fargo, ND) -- The City of West Fargo is reminding residents that firework use following July 4th is illegal.

The City's fire department made the statement on their social media pages following several FM fires, including trash fires. The department recommends soaking your used fireworks in water and placing them in metal containers, and to place those containers at least 10 feet away from any buildings. Experts recommend avoiding the use of plastic containers when disposing of fireworks because they have the potential to reignite up to 24-hours after use.
