(Update: 11:05 a.m.) -- Four traffic accidents on I-94 caused traffic delays early Tuesday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says they responded to four crashes between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in the Fargo metro area. Authorities say several of the crashes were caused by drivers traveling too fast and not seeing other vehicles stopping in front of them.

Authorities say one of the accidents started with a rear-end crash with four vehicles. This crash caused the original vehicle to roll, with the driver transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. This crash caused significant traffic backups in eastbound I-94. A second crash in westbound I-94 involved a driver, who authorities say did not stay in their lane, hit the side of a westbound driver in the construction zone along westbound I-94 at the Tri-level structure.

Other accidents were not described in crash reports sent to WDAY Radio.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says several of the incidents on I-94 today had speed as a contributing factor.

"The North Dakota Highway Patrol would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to slow down, obey posted speed limits, leave a safe following distance between the vehicle in front of you, and to be a defense, responsible driver," said a spokesperson in a release to WDAY Radio.

The Fargo Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff's Office assisted with resolving the crashes.
