(Fargo, ND) -- A Fargo man accused of microwaving a kitten to death and assaulting his ex-girlfriend is facing criminal charges.

Fargo police were called to a home on a domestic violence call this past weekend, where a woman reported her ex-boyfriend Carlos Perez slapped her, cut her lip, and locked her in a closet after the two got into an argument. The woman told officers that in August, Perez microwaved her kitten until it died after he became angry while she was at a P!nk concert. Perez has been charged with aggravated assault, animal cruelty, and terrorizing.

Perez is currently being held at the Cass County Jail on $20,000 bond.
