More than 1,000 seat belt citations issued in Click It or Ticket campaign

(St. Paul, Minn.) – The Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety (OTS)  said a one-week Click It or Ticket Campaign resulted in more than 1,000 seat belt citations and more than 30 child restraint citations across the state of Minnesota.

Across Minnesota, officers, deputies and troopers from more than 200 agencies participated.

Locally, the following agencies participated: Clay County Sheriff’s Office – 17 seat belt citations and one child restraint citation; Moorhead Police Department – 10 seat belt citations; and the Minnesota State Patrol District 2900 (Detroit Lakes) – 87 seat belt citations and one child restraint citation.

OTS coordinated the statewide extra enforcement and awareness campaign from Sept. 17-23.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provided campaign funding for overtime enforcement and awareness in support of the Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety program.
