(West Fargo, ND) -- Authorities in West Fargo are warning locals to stay off of frozen retention ponds.

City First Responders say the ice on the ponds can look deceivingly thick, when in reality it may be thin enough to allow somebody to fall through into the water.

This year's unusually mild winter has resulted in thin ice on bodies of water across North Dakota.
