(Fargo, ND) -- An incumbent on the Fargo City Commission is announcing his re-election bid.

John Strand is running for his third term as a member of the Fargo City Commissioner. He announced his bid and campaign priorities on Tuesday; which aim to address housing concerns, homelessness and more.

"Public safety and health challenges, compounded by behavioral and addiction needs, especially test our ability to constantly meet the complex needs of our diverse population of people,” Strand said in a statement. ”Our city staff have gone above and beyond time and time again, and our city leaders need to make sure they’re supported in addressing our public safety and health needs.”

If Strand were to win this re-election bid, it would be his final term as a City Commissioner. Three others are currently running to fill two open seats on the commission, including Anna Johnson, Delson Saintal, and Nate Pullen. Arlette Preston, who's seat is contested for this election, has not yet announced her intentions for the 2024 election.

“I look at what we’ve accomplished, the partnerships and progress we’ve made, and I would be honored to keep doing that good work for the people.” Strand said.
