FARGO - The Cass County Sheriff’s Office wants you to be aware of a scam. Someone got a call saying they had a warrant for Failure to Appear for jury duty. The scammer told the victim to bring $3,000 to one of several local businesses, to have them transfer funds. The scammer went so far as to text a copy of a fake warrant with the victim's name.
The Sheriff's Office isn't aware of anyone losing money to the scam. They say if you receive a call or text from someone claiming to be with the Sheriff's Office and things don't sound right, hang up, call Red River Regional Dispatch, and ask to speak to a deputy.
