(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo School Board candidate Allie Ollenburger says she disagrees with the decision by district Superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi not to follow a state law, which requires school staff to inform parents, if parents ask, how their child identifies while at school.

"The law is the law, and whether you like the law, or dislike the law, there is right ways to go about things and wrong ways to go about things. I do think that parents need to be involved," said Ollenburger.

Ollenburger made the comment during a candidate's debate hosted by WDAY Radio.

Ollenburger is one of four candidates, out of nine running for school board, who are endorsed by the Fargo teachers union.
