(Bengaluru, India) -- Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says U.S. inflation is coming down but there's still more work to do.

Yellen spoke to reporters Friday on the sidelines of a G20 financial meeting in southern India, and said "Inflation is coming down if you measure it on a 12 month basis," but there was still more work to do  to bring it in line with the Federal Reserve's two-percent target.

Yellen also said she believes a "soft landing" without a recession is possible in the U.S. due to a strong labor market and strong balance sheets.
