(Atlanta, GA)  --  The prosecutor behind former President Trump's Georgia election interference case is responding to allegations of misconduct.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis admitted in a court filing Friday that she had a personal relationship with an outside prosecutor she appointed to manage the case against the former president. She added, however, there's no evidence the relationship prejudiced the case. The defendants accuse Willis of benefiting financially by hiring special prosecutor Nathan Wade for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and want the case to be dismissed.

“To be absolutely clear, the personal relationship between Special Prosecutor Wade and District Attorney Willis has never involved direct or indirect financial benefit to District Attorney Willis,” wrote court officials in a 176 page filing defending the relationship between DA Willis and Wade.

A hearing on the allegations is set for February 15th.
