(Tallahassee, FL)  --  Former President Trump's classified documents case is expected to be pushed back to later this summer.

The Florida criminal case is currently set to begin on May 20th. Trump's legal team has been trying to delay the case until after the November election. A hearing was held Friday to consider the request, with Trump's team calling for an August 12th start date. Special counsel Jack Smith is requesting a July 8th start date, to ensure a verdict before the election.

Judge Aileen Cannon, who is a Trump appointee, did not set a new trial date during the hearing.
