(Plainview, NY) -- New York Democrat Tom Suozzi will take over the Congressional seat once held by Republican George Santos after defeating his GOP opponent in Tuesday's special election.
Suozzi won back the seat he vacated in 2022 in an unsuccessful run for governor, and which was filled by Santos until his expulsion December 1st. Before Tuesday, Republicans had won every major election on Long Island since 2021.
Experts believe turnout in Nassau County was likely reduced by bad weather.
