MINNESOTA – Patty Wetterling, the mother of Jacob Wetterling whose disappearance went unsolved for 27 years, and blogger Joy Baker will discuss their memoir “Dear Jacob: A Mother’s Journey of Hope” at events across Minnesota this week.
Wetterling’s disappearance in St. Joseph, Minnesota in October 1989 shocked the country.
Wetterling will share intimate, behind-the-scenes accounts of the nearly three decades she searched for her son while never losing hope and getting help from the community.
Baker helped convince Jared Scheierl to share his story about being kidnapped from Cold Spring, Minnesota and sexually assaulted in 1989. This helped uncover the man who eventually admitted to both kidnappings and killing Jacob.
Patty Wetterling’s lobbying helped pass the Jacob Wetterling Act in Congress in 1994 which established a national sex offender registry.
