(Fargo, ND) -- A Valley City High School student will be participating in the U.S Senate Page Program.

U.S Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) sent a release to WDAY Radio announcing Valley City High School junior Abby Redfearn was selected to participate in the U.S Senate Page Program's fall 2022 session. WDAY Radio reached out to Redfern, who said they could not comment until she has returned to Valley City at the end of her experience in Washington, D.C.

“It is a privilege to sponsor North Dakota students to serve in the U.S. Senate as official pages, and this prestigious, academically rigorous program is providing Abby with the unique opportunity to study the democratic process from within the halls of Congress,” said Hoeven.

The Senate Page Program began in 1829, with the pages serving as messengers, document deliverers, and having various other duties. During her time as a Page, Redfearn will attend morning classes at the Senate Page School.
