(Pierre, SD) -- Sanford Health and Fairview Health are announcing updated plans on a proposed merger.
The two systems announced last week that they would push back their deadline to close the deal to May 31st. The original plan was to finalize the merger by the end of March.
The new system will operate under the Sanford Health name and be headquartered in Sioux Falls.
Sanford CEO Bill Gassen will serve as president and CEO and Fairview CEO James Hereford will serve as co-CEO for the first year.
