(Sheyenne, ND) -- A suspect accused of shooting a bar patron in the head with a short-barreled shotgun is now in custody and facing multiple charges.
The Rolette County Sheriff's Office accuse 45-year-old Nicholas Poitra of fatally shooting 30-year-old Troyal Thumb inside a Sheyenne Bar on Sunday. The Rolette County Attorneys' Office says Poitra entered the Sheyenne Bar with a short-barreled shotgun. The office says Poitra shot Thumb in the head, and collected other bar patrons' cell phones and one person's keys at gunpoint. The Attorney's Office says Poitra then took the the patron's vehicle and fled the scene.
Poitra faces multiple charges; including Intentional or Knowing Murder of an Adult with a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm as a felon, Possession of a Short-Barreled Shotgun, four counts of Terrorizing with a Dangerous Weapon (Adult Victim), one count of Terrorizing with a Dangerous Weapon (Child Victim), and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
