Mandan Police Officer involved in fatal motorcycle crash

(Mandan, ND) -- A  man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a police SUV in Mandan on Saturday.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 5th St SW and 8th Ave SW in Mandan. Authorities say 76-year-old Ronald Shaw was riding his motorcycle northbound along 8th Ave SW while a police vehicle, driven by 26-year-old Halima Khalifa, was headed westbound on 5th St SW. 

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Shaw's motorcycle collided with the police vehicle. Shaw was thrown from the vehicle and later died from his injuries. Officer Khalifa was not hurt in the crash.

Authorities with the Mandan Police Department, Morton County Sheriff's Office, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, and local ambulance and fire departments responded to the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
