North Dakota heating assistance applications now open

(Bismarck, ND) -- Relief is on the way for North Dakota residents who are struggling to stay warm as temperatures start to drop.  

The state's Health and Human Services says applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program are now open.  

The federal funded initiative will help pay for heating costs for qualifying renters and homeowners.  

More than 14-thousand people received help within the last year.  People have until the end of May to apply.
