(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota is seeing a big drop in COVID hospitalizations and deaths this year.

Those numbers are down more than 55%, according to an analysis of Department of Health data by the APM Research Lab.  It found that around 11,800 people have had to be hospitalized for COVID in 2023, down from the more than 28,00 in 2022 and 29,00 in 2021.

When it comes to deaths, nearly 1,400 people sadly lost their lives due to COVID this year.  It's worth noting that's less than half of the more than 3,000 COVID deaths in 2022.
