(St. Paul, MN) -- A new Minnesota law is taking effect in June that would keep landlords from evicting tenants who perform crimes outside their property.

The landlords would still be allowed to evict people who commit a crime in their building or on their property. The tenants could also be evicted if they are found guilty of violent crime.

The Minnesota Attorney General's Office says renters who are evicted for any violent crime accusation associated with the building are granted an additional five to seven day hearing.
