(Fargo, ND) -- Restoration crews are nearly finished restoring power to all members of Cass County Electric after last week's ice storm.

Freezing rain caused more than two inches of ice to form on power lines and leading to more than 700 poles snapping across South East North Dakota. Right now, 55 Barnes county residents, 15 Cass County residents, and a handful of other residents in Stutsman and Ransom counties are currently without power. This is compared to the over 18,000 residents the days following the ice storm.

The cooperative expects to restore all non-essential accounts today, according to a statement on their outage update page.

Cass County Electric Cooperative thanks residents for being patient, and also appreciates the help of nearby electric cooperatives to rebuild critical infrastructure.
