North Dakota republican representative resigns

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota State Representative Larry Bellew has resigned.

The Republican has represented District 38 in the Minot area for 23 years and served as House Speaker in 2017, but he says it's time to move on.

He intends to move out of state to be closer to his grandchildren.

The District 38 GOP executive committee plans to meet next week to select an interim replacement.

The seat will be up for election in November.
