Walz Says He's Open To A Constitutional Amendment Protecting Abortion

ST PAUL, MINN - The governor of Minnesota says he's open to the possibility of a constitutional amendment protecting abortion access in the state.

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan met with Planned Parenthood leaders, Monday in St. Paul.  The group says the number of patients traveling to Minnesota to seek abortion and other types of reproductive care has nearly doubled since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

DFL lawmakers have already begun talking about putting a constitutional amendment protecting reproductive rights in front of voters this November.

Republican Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson called yesterday's meeting a "blatant effort to exploit a divisive issue for political gain."
