No prison time for man who stole Wizard of OZ slippers from Grand Rapids MN museum

(Grand Rapids, MN)  --  The man who stole Dorothy's ruby slippers from a northern Minnesota museum won't spend any time behind bars.

Seventy-six-year-old Terry Jon Martin pleaded guilty in back October, admitting that he used a sledgehammer to steal the shows worn by actress Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz."

Martin said he got rid of the slippers after realizing they weren't made of real rubies.

He suffers from chronic COPD and is in hospice care with less than six months left to live.

Martin was sentenced to time served today, and ordered to pay restitution to the museum.
