Small business expert: retail theft cost North Dakota businesses $220M in 2022

(Fargo, ND) -- Retail theft is having a significant impact on North Dakota businesses, according to Linda McMahon, former administrator of the Small Business Administration.

"It's just really endangering our economy when it starts impacting the sales, not only for the retailers but look at how much tax revenue the state loses when goods aren't sold," said McMahon.

McMahon says North Dakota businesses lost $220 million in 2022 to theft.

She says that led to a loss of $11 million in tax revenues for the state.
