Minnesota DFL House Speaker Hortman: infrastructure investment will be legislative priority

(Fargo, ND) -- Minnesota's DFL  House Speaker Melissa Hortman is talking about one of her priorities during the new legislative session which got underway today.

"I'm looking forward to this year being a capital investment year in working with democrats and republicans together to invest in the state's infrastructure whether it's college buildings, new ones, or the ones that need repair or wastewater treatment or local roads and bridges. These are things we can work (on) together in the state's interest and get done this year," said Hortman.

Party leaders on both sides say significant spending bills during this session are less likely to pass following spending approved by lawmakers during the last session.
