Hawley Grain Elevator Fire leads to officials to ask community to reduce water usage

(Hawley, MN) -- Crews have been battling a grain elevator fire in Hawley since late last night.

The fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. Crews from nearly a dozen communities, including Moorhead, Dilworth, Glyndon, Barnesville, Lake Park and Detroit Lakes responded to the scene to help. Officials say the blaze is under control at this time but is still ongoing. The city's police chief, Joseph Backlund, says the elevator is considered a total loss due to the extensive damage. 

Additionally, the City of Hawley is asking residents not to use water at this time due to demand on the city's water supply.
