Miller names current Commerce Commissioner as running mate

(Bismarck, ND) – North Dakota Republican gubernatorial candidate Tammy Miller has announced her pick for a running mate on this year’s ticket.

In an announcement Tuesday, Miller tapped current North Dakota Commerce Commissioner Josh Teigen as her running mate in the election. Miller, a former businesswoman who was the CEO of Border States Electric, is the current Lieutenant Governor, serving under Doug Burgum, who announced earlier this year that he will not be seeking a third term as Governor.

Miller touts Teigen’s experience in business leadership as one of the main factors in her choice as a running mate.

“The Miller-Teigen administration will grow our economy, eliminate the state individual income tax, cut red tape that holds back small businesses, and fill our jobs by attracting workforce to North Dakota,” Miller said. “Working alongside Josh as Lt Governor, we can take our state to the next level and help every North Dakotan reach their full potential!”

Prior to serving as the Commerce Commissioner in the Burgum administration, Teigen had an extensive career in the private sector. He spent almost eight years at Mind Shift and also served as president and chief financial officer of Protosthetics, a medical device company.

He said he’s excited to join Miller’s team.

“Tammy is a world-class business leader,” Teigen said. “As a CEO and CPA she makes every dollar count and knows how to treat taxpayers like the customers they are. I’m thrilled to join her campaign and take North Dakota to the next level.”
