(St. Paul, MN) -- The Minnesota DNR is cautioning boaters about low water levels on lakes and rivers due to drought affecting about 40% of the state.

The conditions makes boat launches challenging in some areas. Boaters are advised to be vigilant of surroundings and watch for hazards like shallow rocks and trees.

The agency is actively repairing boat ramps damaged during the winter and plans to extend ramps where feasible.
