Gwinner woman dies after Sunday morning house fire

(Gwinner, ND) -- A woman and a dog are dead following a house fire in Gwinner.

Firefighters were called to the home yesterday morning and found the woman in an upstairs room. She was taken to a hospital where she died. A man and several dogs were able to escape the fire. A firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Investigators believe the fire may have started in the basement of the home, and they're still trying to pinpoint the cause.
