(St. Paul, MN) -- It's Statehood day in Minnesota on Saturday, and that means the new State Flag and State Seal will be officially adopted.

The flag is deep blue "k" shape on one side that highlights an eight-pointed star, with a lighter blue on the other. The new seal features a loon sitting on a lake with a star and trees in the distance.

The flag faced pushback from members of the GOP, including introducing a law to make it a ballot initiative. That law was shot down.
