Apartment fire under investigation in Grand Forks

(Grand Forks, ND) – Four apartment tenants were displaced following a fire Thursday afternoon in Grand Forks.

According to Battalion Chief Chris Carlson, firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of North 5th Street at just after 4 p.m. Thursday for a report of smoke in the building.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they encountered heavy black smoke on the second floor of the apartment building. The firefighters worked to quickly extinguished the fire. There was significant fire and smoke damage to one unit and smoke damage throughout the second floor. The smoke was removed from the building, but four residents were displaced.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
