Twelve-year-old Twistology entrepreneur gets advice from N.D. snack queen Dorothy Henke

FARGO, N.D. –  A simple purchase of pretzels at a gas station turns into an entrepreneurial dream for a 12-year-old boy.

Connor Arbach was inspired to begin a business, but wanted to do something different than a lemonade stand.

Connor started making pretzels at home, leaving them at the breakroom of his mother’s workplace for $2 a bag. That’s led to experimenting with several flavors at home including ranch, churro, honey mustard, chili lime, pizza, dill pickle and chipotle barbecue and naming his business Twistology.

After reading an article about Connor sent to her by her son, legendary North Dakota snack queen Dorothy Henke of Dot’s Pretzels reached out to him. They met in Velva and toured her factory.

“She encouraged me to keep going and she said ‘You sound a lot like me when I started.’ I’ve thought about bottling the seasoning and selling that. Someone requested a pickle seasoning,” Arbach explained.

Connor also wants to launch a website to sell pretzels directly to customers.

If you want to try Twistology or meet Connor, he’ll be at the Love Your Local Market on May 24 at the Fargo Air Museum followed by a few markets in Arthur, North Dakota.
