Hawthorne Elementary 60th Birthday Celebration

On September 13, more than 400 students and their families from Clara Barton and Hawthorne Elementary Schools are invited to celebrate the 60th birthday of Hawthorne Elementary.

During this special celebration, several Clara Barton and Hawthorne Neighborhood Association Board Members, as well as Clara Barton Neighborhood representatives will scoop ice cream and dish birthday cake to attendees. In addition, attendees will be invited to decorate the sidewalk with the chalk provided; this is to celebrate the school year theme of Art and Literacy.

This is the eighth year for the event, which was first held in 2011. The event, sponsored by the Clara Barton Hawthorne Parent Teacher Association, is held to help students and families from the two campuses get to know one another, and create a stronger identity for the paired schools. The paired schools serve kindergarten through fifth grade students from the same south side neighborhood, grades K – 2 at Hawthorne and grades 3 – 5 at Clara Barton.
