Spirit Airlines flight diverted after fire in overhead bin

(Jacksonville, FL) -- A Spirit Airlines flight that was diverted landed safely in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday after the crew reported a battery in an overhead bin was on fire.

The flight that took off from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was on the way to Orlando International Airport when the fire started, filling the cabin with smoke.

Reports indicate as many as ten people were taken to the hospital.

The FAA is investigating.
