Friends and Family Mourn loss of Mark Knutson

FARGO (WDAY) - Hundred gathered at Hope Lutheran Church in Fargo to celebrate the life and legacy of Mark Knutson, Saturday.

Knutson died following a biking accident in Detroit Lakes last week. Surveillance video from a nearby home showed Knutson lost control of his bike and fell into the path of a passing boat trailer on the 1100 block of South Shore Drive in Detroit Lakes.

"Mark was an inspiration," said Rev. Dale Wolf, Saturday. "I don't know why Mark's life was snatched away so early, but I do know the Lord was with him in the accident and I know God is good."

Knutson served as the Executive Director of the Fargo Marathon for 19 years growing the race from 200 runners to nearly 20,000. He had recently moved to Detroit Lakes to serve as the General Manager of Detroit Mountain.
