Clay County authorities involved in pursuit

 

On Friday, at approximately 1:12 p.m., the Clay County Sheriff’s Office became aware of a vehicle pursuit that was traveling westbound on I-94 from Ottertail County. Authorities were informed that the vehicle was stolen from a possible carjacking incident in Ottertail County. Officers from the Fergus Falls Police Department and Ottertail County Sheriff’s Office were pursuing the vehicle on I94. 

When the vehicle entered into Clay County on I94, Officers from the Barnesville Police Department were able to successfully deploy stop sticks causing two tires to go flat. The driver of the vehicle continued to travel westbound with two flat tires. 

A Clay County Deputy was requested to take over as the primary pursuit unit as they were westbound on I94. The deputy performed a PIT maneuver on the suspect vehicle near mile marker 21 on I94, causing the vehicle to slide into the ditch and stop. 

The driver was taken into custody without incident. 

Clay County officials were assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Fergus Falls Police Department, Ottertail County Sheriff’s Office and Barnesville Police Department.
