2-16-19 Energy Matters Hour 1

Guest Host Geoff Simon broadcasts from the KFYR Agri-International on Tuesday February 12th, 2019

Guest's this hour include:

Mike Dannenfelzer, Communications director at CenCom, and Jason Stugelmeyer, deputy chief of Bismarck PD, talking about SIRN 2020 legislation, that would establish a statewide radio network to facilitate communication among emergency responders

Joel Armstrong, vice president of production and operations for Whitecap Resources, Inc., in Calgary, Alberta.

He talks about his company’s history of using carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery in the partially depleted oil fields near Weyburn, Saskatchewan. They have been using CO2 from the Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah for nearly 20 years.

Kari Cutting, Vice President of ND Petroleum Council, talks about “One Basin – One Way” - Currently, contractors for the oil and gas industry must meet orientation and training requirements for each company they perform work for throughout the year.  The average contractor sits through 4-8 orientations, with similar material being presented each time. This adds up to almost 1.25 million lost man hours due to redundant training.  Members of the North Dakota Petroleum Council (NDPC) identified this duplicative training as an area they could increase efficiency. Last spring, they began developing a standardized orientation program with input from 99 committee members including producers, contractors and training providers.

Ted Aulich, Principal Process Chemist, Fuels and Chemicals with the EERC. Discusses his LPEA ammonia project. He'll discuss how that works and why it's significant.
