(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Minnesota Gophers are ceding Paul Bunyan's Axe to Wisconsin following a 28-14 loss at Huntington Bank Stadium on Saturday.
The game was tied at 14 at halftime, but the Gophers gave up two third-quarter scores and were never able to come back. Athan Kaliakmanis passed for 167 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the losing effort, while Daniel Jackson caught nine passes for 121 yards and a score. Minnesota finishes the 2023 season in last place in the Big Ten West with a 3-6 conference mark and a 5-7 record overall.
The Gophers will be the only 5-7 team to go bowling.
