(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Timberwolves couldn't take advantage of an historical performance from Karl-Anthony Towns during a 128-125 loss to the Charlotte Hornets at the Target Center.

Minnesota held an 18-point lead at the end of the third quarter before getting outscored 36-18 in the final frame. Karl-Anthony Towns had 62 points for the Wolves, but he missed a desperation game-tying three at the buzzer. Minnesota is still in first place in the Western Conference at 30-13.

The Wolves visit Washington on Wednesday evening.
