Twins defeat Astros after nearly two hour rain delay

After a nearly two hour rain delay in the middle of the game the Minnesota Twins fended off the Houston Astros 6-3 in their series opener.

Kendry Rojas tossed four scoreless innings in a no-decision. Simeon Woods Richardson and Andrew Morris each tossed a shutout inning out of the bullpen. Justin Topa gave up three runs over 2/3 of an inning. Eric Orze threw 1 ⅓ scoreless innings and earned the win. Yoendrys Gomez recorded an out while Taylor Rogers picked up the save after tossing the final two outs of the game.

Josh Bell hit two home runs with four RBI, he now has hit five home runs in the 2026 season. Luke Keaschall added two RBI.

The Twins improved to a record of 22-26 on the season. The Twins and Astros will continue their series on Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m. with full game coverage available on Twins.TV. Zebby Matthews will be on the mound for Minnesota while Lance McCullers Jr. counters for Houston.
