EPW advances FWS nominee

U.S. Senator and Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee member Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement today regarding EPW advancing the nomination of Aurelia Skipwith to be Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Director this week:

“I support Skipwith’s nomination because she has committed to working with us to address Waterfowl Production Area (WPA) Easements and to visiting North Dakota to meet landowners whose private property rights have been infringed by FWS. My hope is she will bring a fresh, innovative approach to managing the bureau. I look forward to working with her in conjunction with Secretary Bernhardt and Assistant Secretary Wallace to address these issues.”

This comes as Senator Cramer announced today he will be hosting Secretary Bernhardt in North Dakota next Wednesday for a landowner roundtable to discuss this issue. The Senator met with Skipwith earlier this month to stress private property rights and questioned her about this topic during her nomination hearing.
