Pursuit, crash leads to multiple charges

 

This morning, at approximately 2:20 a.m., the University of North Dakota Police Department requested the assistance from the Grand Forks Police Department. UNDPD had a 1998 Honda Accord being driven by Robert Fowley Jr pulled over at the 1700 block of Demers Avenue

 The vehicle fled from the traffic stop and was located a short time later by Grand Forks Police officers at the 700 block of South Washington. The suspect vehicle fled from officers eastbound. The pursuit went south to Cherry Street, and then westbound on 13th Avenue South. The suspect vehicle then traveled southbound on South Columbia Road.

When the suspect vehicle continued fleeing southbound on South Columbia, it accelerated rapidly. The speed of the suspect vehicle was clocked at 95 miles per hour. Due to safety concerns for the general public, the pursuit was terminated at the 2000 block of South Columbia Road.

The suspect vehicle continued southbound and rear ended a 2013 Dodge Caravan being driven by 49 year old Grand Forks resident Jesse Hujanen at the 3200 block of South Columbia Road.  There were no reported injuries in this crash.

Fowley then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was apprehended by GFPD officers as he was attempting to enter Walmart at 2551 32nd Avenue South.

Robert Fowley Jr. was charged with the following offenses:

Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle

Reckless Endangerment x 2

Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Driving Under Suspension

Leaving the Scene of an Accident

Fleeing on Foot

False Information to Law Enforcement Officer

Multiple Traffic Offenses

During the time of the incident Fowley had three active arrest warrants.
