A junior tight end on the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks football team was injured in a skiing accident in Colorado on Friday.

Hunter Pinke, a Wishek, N.D., native, was injured while skiing, according to his mother, Katie Pinke, who posted the following message on Twitter Friday afternoon: "Our son @hunter_pinke was in a skiing accident this morning. He’s conscious and receiving medical treatment in Colorado. Prayer warriors, please pray for Hunter’s full healing and his medical team. When we know more, we will share more. Thank you."

Earlier Friday evening, Pinke was in surgery, his mom later posted on Twitter.

Hunter also took to Twitter, saying "Thank you all for prayers and well wishes. Surgery in a bit and then the recovery process begins. Can’t wait to get to work. Thank you all again I have no words to describe the support and prayer that’s been shared. I WILL WALK AGAIN!! All love!!"

A prayer vigil was held Friday night in Pinke's hometown of Wishek.
