West Fargo Public Library cancels events in response to COVID-19 pandemic

The West Fargo Public Library is cancelling all upcoming events, programs, delivery of materials to offsite locations and meeting room reservations until further notice. This will not impact the library’s regular hours of operation. This decision was made in order to be in step with North Dakota schools as they encourage youth and families to practice social distancing during school closures beginning March 16, 2020.

“As the library provides numerous events for youth and seniors, we have decided to cancel our in-person programs and events that encourage group congregation until further notice,” Library Director Carissa Hansen said.

The library building, however, will maintain its regular hours of operation at this time. Patrons will still be able to check out and return materials, use library technology, etc. Staff are taking extra care to clean and disinfect common areas and high-touch surfaces and to maintain their own hygiene. Staff who feel ill have been directed to stay home. The library also offers many online services which can be found at www.westfargolibrary.org.

The West Fargo Public Library is working closely with fellow City of West Fargo departments to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19 and to devise plans for response that are in the best interest of public safety, while continuing to provide public services.

The West Fargo Public Library encourages patrons to join the library and fellow City of West Fargo departments in following the guidelines of Fargo Cass Public HealthNorth Dakota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at this time. The West Fargo Public Library will continue to share updates regarding its response to COVID-19 and any operational changes on FacebookTwitter and www.westfargolibrary.org.
