ND Brain Injury Advisory Council to meet May 15 by video conference

 

The North Dakota Brain Injury Advisory Council, a citizen advisory group that includes people with lived experience and other stakeholders, will meet Friday, May 15, from 1 to 4 p.m., CT, by video conference, to hear updates on various statewide initiatives concerning education, awareness and the continuum of care for individuals with brain injuries. 

The meeting agenda also includes discussion on the development of brain injury service protocols, cognitive therapy insurance provisions and statewide brain injury learning collaborative activities. Council members will hear an update on the recent submission of a draft Medicaid 1915(i) state plan amendment, that once approved by the federal government, will allow North Dakota Medicaid to pay for additional in-home and community-based services for individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders and/or brain injuries. Representatives from North Dakota’s Department of Human Services and Department of Health will report on related agency activities.

There will also be discussion on emerging legislative initiatives related to brain injuries. The council has reserved time for public comment from 3:30 to 3:45 p.m.
