Grand Forks man charged with felony, misdemeanors following standoff in Grand Forks

A 33-year-old Grand Forks man is facing multiple misdemeanors and a felony charge after a standoff in Grand Forks earlier this week.

Edward Adam Harper, Jr., is facing a pair of refusal to halt charges, both Class B misdemeanors, for fleeing police officers when pursued in two different locations on Tuesday.

He also faces a burglary charge, which is a Class C felony.

Court documents say that Harper, Jr., ran from police and entered a home by breaking its basement egress window in the northwest corner of the home. He then gained entrance to the home through that window.

One of the home's renters, Cesar Cruz, told officers he was in the bedroom when the suspect entered through the window. Cruz said he heard the window break and saw Harper, Jr., enter the home.

The suspect was told multiple times to leave the home, but told Cruz he was hiding from the police.

Harper, Jr., is due back in court August 26 for a preliminary hearing and/or arraignment.
